Step 1: Fit the glass into the rubber. Start with the center, top and bottom corners and push the glass into place. Then, pull the rubber around the rest of the glass. Do one side at a time.
Step 2: If you have the stainless steel moulding, lay the glass with the outside up. Start with the corners. Hang on corner off the edge of the table for easy access. Pull the rubber back & slide the moulding in. Make sure the moulding is in all the way before installing the glass into the truck.
If you do not have the moulding or if you are finished installing the moulding, lay the glass & rubber with the inside up & bottom edge closest to you. If the rubber comes off the glass, use masking tape to hold the rubber on.
Step 3: Rope the windshield. Start with the top of the shield. Place the center of the string or cord at this point. Place the string in the opening of the rubber that will fold over the pinchweld. Make sure the string is in as far as it can go and that it is pulled tight. Lubricate the rubber on the inside edge with liquid soap or a light motor oil.
Step 4: Place the windshield in the opening, be sure it is centered. The string should be on the inside of the cab and at about bottom center. Pull the string with one person holding one side of the glass from the outside, while the person who pulls the string holds the other half of the shield by reaching around to the outside of the cab.
Step 5: Pull one side at a time. Pull the string, NOT out towards the back of the cab, but in & towards the middle of the shield.
Step 6: If the rubber does not cover the pinchweld, take a screwdriver & gently lift the rubber to the inside. If the glass still does not pull in, tap the glass from the outside with an open hand. Don't hit it very hard with your fist or the heel of your hand. Make sure to distribute the tap evenly, to much pressure in one spot for just a second will break the glass.
Step 7: Sealing the glass will need to be done in a glass shop, since special equipment & products are required.
Step 8: To install the center outside stainless moulding, use an awl from the inside, while someone pushes the moulding from the outside.
